Lacock

Picture-postcard lovely Lacock is now owned and managed by the National Trust. The village has been beautifully preserved and is largely unchanged since it was a thriving township trading in wool. Its quaint streets are regularly used as film locations: the popular Cranford series was filmed here, along with parts of the Harry Potter movies, Larkrise to Candleford and Lost in Austen. The village church of St.Cyriack features in many on-screen period pieces, while romantic Lacock Abbey, founded in 1229 by Ela Countess Dowager of Salisbury, is another charming local attraction.
